Sedrun 50th Anniversary Celebrations
Saturday 15th December was momentous day in Andermatt and Sedrun’s history as locals and visitors gathered together at the Milez restaurant to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Sedrun cable cars. The day was centred around the areas rich history and involved many nostalgic activities such as a ski race down the infamous Sedrun slopes. Pictured below are some of the skiers who took part in the race, wooden skis and poles made for a traditional affair much like Sedrun 50 year’s ago.
With beautiful sunshine, a big band and an Alp Horn group the atmosphere on the day was great. Robert Fellermeier, a member of the Board of the Sedrun Bergbahnen and Managing Director of Andermatt Swiss Alps was ‘happy with the number of people who came to the event’ and judged it as a ‘commitment to the future of the Ski area Andermatt and Sedrun’.
Events such as this are just the start of winter festivities in Andermatt and Sedrun as the Andermatt ice skating rink is set to open Saturday 22nd December and remain open until 1st February 2013.
