Update: Ski Arena Andermatt-Sedrun
The 9th January 2013 was a significant day here in Andermatt as an agreement was struck between Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG (ASS) and environmental associations, enabling the pioneering ski expansion to be conducted in an environmentally and aesthetically appropriate manor.
Based on the agreement signed on the day, the new ski arena will consist of 24 state-of-the-art aerial tramways, combination lifts, cable cars, chair lifts and ski lifts in the heart of Switzerland. The terrain connects the holiday regions of Andermatt and Sedrun via the Oberalp pass and on completion will boast more than 120km of ski runs. Thanks to the two resorts elevated positions, situated at 1,500 to 3,000 metres high, the new ski arena is snow-sure for the duration of every winter season.
Speaking on the subject Olympian and Andermatt resident Bernhard Russi expressed what he believes will make Andermatt a resort of the future, “The varied offer of runs, reliability of snow and sun kissed slopes are what will make the ski arena Andermatt-Sedrun, one of the most attractive ski resorts in Switzerland”.
