Update: The Chedi Andermatt
With just a little over 4 months to go until the opening of The Chedi Andermatt hotel, the atmosphere is becoming electric. The Chedi Andermatt will be the inaugural property of the Andermatt Swiss Alps project and marks a significant, and poignant moment in the village’s regeneration. Situated on the same site as the once renowned Grand Hotel Bellevue, The Chedi Andermatt will resonate glamour and modern sophistication. Designed by notable architect Jean-Michel Gathy, the 5* hotel will be an architectural landmark, occupying a prime position within the village.
The hotel is operated by GHM, a Singapore based company with an integral philosophy that respects the indigenous culture of every project, whilst honouring its Asian roots. The result in Andermatt is an authentic and original design that seamlessly fuses Alpine chic with Asian nuances.
In the 106 appointed rooms and suites, Gathy achieves symbiotic cohesion through the use of local features; from large fireplaces to wood paneling, and terraces that allow indoor and outdoor spaces to blend seamlessly; an aspect suited to al fresco Alpine living.
Whilst The Chedi Andermatt represents a landmark of design in The Alps, let’s not forget the hospitality presented at this elegant mountain haven. The hotel’s ski butlers are on hand to offer the highest standard of comfort as well as concierge services including arrangements for the next day on the slopes and golf tee-offs.
Typical to Swiss après ski style, the hotel has created a social central atrium to relax in after a day on slopes (or the golf course throughout the summer season of course). The Lobby is the place to see and be seen encompassing The Wine & Cigar Library, The Bar and The Living Room where a selection of small local dishes and snacks are served. Meanwhile, weary guests can relax in The Spa and Pool to recuperate from the active Swiss lifestyle.
As with all Chedi hotels, famed for culinary excellence, The Chedi Andermatt will showcase a range of high end cuisine with four open kitchen restaurants serving Western and Asian dishes. The Pièce de résistance is The Japanese Restaurant, serving authentic Japanese delicacies prepared at a tempura and sushi bar, a unique offering in the Swiss Alps.
