Andermatt Swiss Alps

“I was completely overwhelmed! – in the positive sense.”

In January 2015 Luzia G. spent a few winter days in apartment house Hirsch at Andermatt Swiss Alps. In this interview with Gabriella Hersche (Marketing & PR Manager, Interhome AG) she talks about her experience and her impressions.

Thank you for your willingness to tell us about your experience in Andermatt. Were you there for Christmas?
L: No, I was in Andermatt in mid-January for nearly a week with my husband and another couple who are good friends.

How did you get to Andermatt?
We decided to use public transportation. The trip was relaxing and the transfer in Göschenen was perfectly smooth.

After you arrived at the train station, who gave you the keys to your apartment?
Andermatt Swiss Alps has a sales office right across from the station. We were warmly received there and given our keys.

What was your first impression of the apartment?
I was completely overwhelmed! – and I mean that in the positive sense. The apartment was brand new, with the finest of furniture, and the kitchen was an absolute dream! The raclette oven was still in its original packaging. Everything was still so new that I actually took a bath during our stay – something I never do away from home.

That says a lot for the apartment!
Yes, it really does. Our apartment was spaciously designed and very tastefully furnished. We had two bedrooms, each one with its own bathroom. Every apartment has its own washing machine and dryer, and anyone who has ever been on ski vacation knows how valuable that is! Because we were on the ground floor, our apartment had a terrace – or it will have a terrace soon; last winter it was more of an earthen corner.

Why was that?
Apartment house Hirsch had just been finished, and the surrounding buildings were still in the middle of the construction phase.

Did the construction noise disturb you?
No, actually there was none to speak of. We never heard any hammering or sawing, for example. We only saw the trucks, some of which delivered complete kitchens. That was very interesting to watch.

Did you always cook your own meals?
We enjoyed eating raclette or fondue together in the evenings. All the necessary tableware was there. Of course we also could have gone out to one of the many restaurants in the village, but we wanted to enjoy the lovely apartment as much as possible.

Will you be returning to Andermatt soon?
We always like to try out new destinations, so we probably won’t be coming back very soon. But I would recommend these apartments without a second thought. If you like it exclusive but still homey, Andermatt is just the right place. And booking through Interhome was fast and uncomplicated.
