Andermatt Swiss Alps

First-hand local knowledge

Countryside walks, biking, golfing and much more make summer in the Urseren Valley special. This also explains why the three front-office ladies at the Sales and Information Center Andermatt (SICA) chose precisely this location as their workplace. Manuela Jucker grew up in Ebikon (LU) and has been living in Andermatt for the past five years. “I am an avid freerider and mountain biker and was previously working in the SkiArena Andermatt-Sedrun as a cabin attendant and as a ticket clerk. But those were just seasonal jobs – winters and short summer seasons. So I was looking for something for the whole year, and I found it in the front office! Now I can make better use of my skills as a tourism professional, and outside my work I can enjoy the great Andermatt sports all year round.” As a well-informed local, she not only hands over the apartment keys to the guests, she also gives them advice for recreational undertakings.
Michèle Dubacher not only knows the area perfectly because she grew up here, she knows the company Andermatt Swiss Alps AG very well. “I was previously employed in the accounting department. But I like working with people more than with numbers. I want to advance in the tourism field, so I am enrolled in a work-study programme as a tourism specialist.” Still, she finds time to explore the natural countryside around Andermatt – on bike or on foot. “And when the world beyond the valley beckons, then I go travelling. A few months ago I was in the USA for a longer trip, and every now and again new cities attract me for an extended weekend.”

The third member of the team is Karin Brunner. She grew up in Andermatt. “I think the Urseren Valley is the perfect place. I’m in the mountains, but still quickly in Altdorf, Lucerne, or Zurich.” She became a mother several months ago and enjoys going out for long strolls with her son. “I had a great childhood, surrounded by nature, and I want my son to have that too.” Karin can also be found a lot outdoors with her camera – to capture the beautiful moments.

In addition to the extensive insider knowledge that the SICA team provides, they take care of the individual needs of the guests or help them to find the right package offer. The offering is attractive and up to date, and that’s ensured by Rental Manager Martin Kalina. “The packages are popular – especially with golf in the summer and with the ski pass in winter.” The range of additional services is also great. “For example, if you would like to enjoy an evening dining in The Chedi Andermatt, or want a mountain guide, or need a cot set up in your apartment, you can simply leave it up to us. We can arrange almost anything”, says Martin Kalina.
